Position Overview

JRE is seeking a dedicated Board Certified or Board Eligible Primary Care Physician to provide comprehensive outpatient care to Veteran patients in a VA outpatient clinic setting. The physician will deliver high-quality primary care services, including the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of acute and chronic medical conditions.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate clinical excellence, strong communication skills, commitment to patient safety, and adherence to VA standards of care, documentation, and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

• Provide comprehensive primary care services to Veteran patients.
• Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.
• Manage conditions including diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, coronary artery disease, vascular disease, PTSD, depression, and other chronic medical and behavioral health conditions.
• Perform initial evaluation and treatment of respiratory illnesses, gastrointestinal conditions, minor wound care, burns, musculoskeletal injuries, dermatologic conditions, ENT disorders, eye conditions, and urological concerns.
• Communicate test results in accordance with VA policies and procedures.
• Follow established medication management protocols.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, provider meetings, and interdisciplinary care activities.

Documentation & Compliance

• Document all patient encounters within the VA Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Complete documentation and coding requirements by the end of each patient encounter.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations, VA privacy and information security standards, patient safety protocols, infection control measures, and medical staff bylaws.

Required Qualifications

Education & Licensure

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
• Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
• No history of license restrictions, suspensions, revocations, or disciplinary actions.

Board Certification

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in:
  • Internal Medicine (ABIM), or
  • Family Medicine (ABFM)

Required Certifications

• Current BLS Certification.
• Current ACLS Certification.
• Active DEA Registration.
• Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).

Technical Requirements

• Experience providing outpatient primary care services.
• Proficiency with Electronic Health Records.
• Ability to speak, read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Credentialing Requirements

Selected candidates must successfully complete VA credentialing and privileging requirements before beginning clinical duties. Credentialing includes verification of education, training, work history, licensure, board certification status, references, and clinical competency.

Health & Immunization Requirements

Candidates must provide evidence of:

• Negative Tuberculosis (TB) screening.
• Immunity to Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR).
• Immunity to Varicella.
• Tdap vaccination.
• Annual Influenza vaccination or approved exemption.
• Hepatitis B vaccination and required documentation.
• Bloodborne Pathogen training completion.

Required VA Training

Providers must complete all mandatory VA training requirements, including but not limited to:

• ACLS/BLS
• CPRS/EHR Training
• Infection Control
• Privacy & HIPAA
• Patient Safety
• Suicide Prevention
• Workplace Harassment Prevention
• Military Sexual Trauma (MST)
• PACT Act Toxic Exposure Screening
• Active Threat Training
• VISTA Imaging
• VA Video Connect Training

All required training must be maintained annually.

Schedule & Coverage Requirements

• Full-time coverage of 40 hours per week.
• Monday through Friday during clinic operating hours.
• Providers must report on time for all scheduled shifts.
• Continuity of care is essential; reliable attendance and schedule adherence are required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous VA, military, federal, or community-based outpatient clinic experience.
• Experience caring for Veteran populations.
• Familiarity with CPRS, Oracle Health/Cerner, or similar EHR systems.
• Strong patient-centered communication and collaborative care skills.
