Position Overview 

JR Enterprise (JRE), in partnership with the Hibbing VA Clinic, is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Primary Care Physician in Internal Medicine or Family Practice to provide high-quality outpatient healthcare services to Veterans at the Hibbing Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Hibbing, Minnesota. 

This is a 1 FTE, 1099 contract opportunity offering physicians the opportunity to provide meaningful care to Veterans in a structured, collaborative, and patient-focused VA healthcare environment. 

The physician will provide comprehensive outpatient primary care, evaluate and manage acute and chronic medical conditions, develop treatment plans, coordinate care, and collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams. 

Each provider will manage a patient panel of approximately 1,000 patients and see up to 14 scheduled patients per day, with the possibility of up to 4 additional walk-in patients based on clinic needs. The majority of patients are scheduled; however, the clinic accommodates occasional walk-ins and does not turn away Veterans who require care. 

Compensation & Contract 

  • Compensation: $165/hour, 1099 

  • Insurance: Covered 

  • Position: 1 FTE 

  • Contract Term: 1 year with two additional 1-year options to extend 

  • Potential Contract End Date: May 31, 2029 

Schedule 

  • Monday – Friday 

  • Clinic Hours: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM CST 

  • Provider Schedule: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM CST 

  • No call 

  • No weekends 

  • No holiday coverage 

  • Closed on all Federal Holidays 

Qualifications 

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Practice 

  • Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in Minnesota 

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification 

  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or equivalent 

  • Experience providing comprehensive outpatient primary care services 

  • Ability to provide patient-centered care in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment 

License Requirements 

All physicians assigned under this contract must possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in Minnesota. 

Physicians with a history of a restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily surrendered, or denied medical license will not be considered for this opportunity. 

Responsibilities 

  • Provide comprehensive outpatient primary care services to Veteran patients. 

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic medical conditions. 

  • Manage an assigned patient panel of approximately 1,000 patients. 

  • See up to approximately 14 scheduled patients per day, plus occasional walk-in patients. 

  • Develop and implement appropriate treatment plans. 

  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and laboratory results. 

  • Prescribe and manage medications as clinically appropriate. 

  • Coordinate care with specialists and interdisciplinary healthcare teams. 

  • Provide preventive care and chronic disease management. 

  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in accordance with VA policies. 

  • Meet all clinical and performance standards established by the VA. 

  • Participate in team-based PACT care and support continuity of care for Veterans. 

Clinic & Practice Setting 

The Hibbing CBOC is part of the Minneapolis VA Health Care System and provides outpatient primary care services to the local Veteran population. 

The clinic currently has three PACTs and is experiencing a staffing need for an additional Primary Care Physician and RN support. 

Providers will work in a collaborative, team-based environment focused on providing accessible, coordinated, and high-quality care to Veterans.
