About This Opportunity

JR Enterprise LLC (JRE), in partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs, is seeking a qualified Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT) to provide procedural and technical support in the Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology Laboratories.

The CVT will assist in delivering high-quality cardiovascular care to Veterans through diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures performed in accordance with standards established by The Joint Commission and VA clinical policies.

Due to call coverage requirements, candidates should reside within 50 miles commuting distance of the facility.


Key Responsibilities

The Cardiovascular Technologist will perform clinical and technical duties including:

Procedural Assistance

  • Serve as first assistant to the cardiologist during cardiovascular procedures
  • Support diagnostic and interventional catheterization procedures including:
    • Coronary angiography and angioplasty
    • Coronary arteriography and ventricular studies
    • Ventricular biopsy and thrombolytic procedures
    • Electrophysiology catheter ablation
    • Pacemaker and AICD implantation assistance

Patient Monitoring & Clinical Support

  • Monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize abnormal or life-threatening arrhythmias
  • Perform physiologic monitoring including blood pressure, arterial pressure, and oximetry
  • Assist in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and operate defibrillators during cardiac emergencies

Equipment Operation & Laboratory Management

  • Operate fluoroscopic and angiographic imaging systems
  • Prepare and arrange sterile procedural instruments such as catheters, guide wires, balloons, and stents
  • Perform equipment calibration and quality assurance checks following radiation safety standards (ALARA compliance)
  • Assist with laboratory platforms including Mac Lab and GE Innova angiographic systems

Documentation & Workflow Coordination

  • Maintain patient procedural logs and clinical records
  • Use electronic medical record systems for scheduling and clinical documentation
  • Coordinate patient scheduling and review diagnostic results with interpreting physicians
  • Support preventive and emergency maintenance coordination with biomedical engineering services

Patient Interaction

  • Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and promote cooperation
  • Support psychosocial needs of patients and families during clinical care

Qualification Requirements

Education

  • Completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT) or Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) program

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years hospital experience (excluding training)
  • Must have performed catheterization laboratory procedures for at least 24 months in a hospital setting
  • Recent clinical activity within the past 12 months (minimum 6 months catheterization lab experience)

Certification & Licensure

  • One of the following certifications is required:
    • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)
    • Certified Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT)
    • Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT)
  • Applicable California state certification or licensure
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association–approved program
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is preferred

Work Schedule & Call Coverage

  • Standard clinical schedule: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
  • Participation in call coverage is required
  • Overtime applies to work exceeding 8 hours per day

Call expectations may include:

  • Up to approximately 100 on-call hours per month (variable by procedural volume)
  • Rotation of call coverage among available CVT staff
